Carter Church is a Staff AI Engineer at SentinelOne, focused on AI systems for security operations.

His background is rooted in the SOC. Before working on AI product direction and autonomous security workflows, Carter spent years close to the operational floor: monitoring, investigating, tuning detections, building internal tools, mentoring analysts, and helping scale security operations.

That path shapes how he thinks about AI. The hard part of security work is rarely a single alert in isolation. The hard part is context: what happened, what matters, what changed, who needs to act, what the runbook says, what the business can tolerate, and how to move from signal to action without creating more noise.

Carter's work focuses on agentic systems that can operate inside those constraints. He is interested in AI that respects workflow, auditability, escalation, and human judgment - systems that help analysts move faster without pretending the human disappears.

At SentinelOne, Carter previously led Security Hyperautomation and was a founding SOC analyst, helping scale security operations into a global follow-the-sun function.
